We’re super excited to once again to be back in the saddle. . . ahem, not that kind of saddle, rather, the saddle shoe. Bass is our go-to saddle shoe brand. We’ve been carrying various versions of this classic style for a couple years now, and this season, we’re bringing the tradition, in tra-di-tional people. In a more toned down and soft version, the grey and white color scheme.
Or if you want to go real old school and talk the talk, and walk the walk of classic saddle, then choose the navy and white. Slip on some bobby socks, or some knee highs, and put these Bass bad boys on, and you’ll be jumpin’ and a jivin’ down the street. For the $75 price tag, it’s worth a ride in these saddles.
There’s still time to get some booties and beef up your closet with the much coveted shoe style for the season. And in response to the need and overwhelming response we’ve had so far, we’ve added the Bass Fabricia bootie to our stock. It’s got a cute checkered flannel fold-over and total comfort for the foot. The black suede pretty much goes with anything, and the best part about Bass, their price: $99.
If you’re not into flannel flair, then we’ve added another color to our Indigo Water Row stock: taupe. Still the same price as our black and cognac at $120, but it’s a lighter color touch to the foot with still the same soft suede material. Come and get your pick of booties before they’re gone!
Nothing says summer than like the color white. It’s fresh, it’s clean, it’s bright in its own way–it’s classic, no? So we’ve picked a snappy good ol’ white shoe for you men out there looking to jazz up some summer outfit or to maybe pair with your wedding attire suit. It’s the Bass Brockton shoe. In a nubuck white suede and the classic oxford toe shape, it’s a shoe that shapes up to look veryyyy jazzy and old school for you men wanting some classic flair. And can we say it enough? Bass Shoes are affordable and almost border on being called cheap because at $75, who else can give you a suede shoe? Make it a bright white summer men!!
Want classic style for only $75? Then turn to Bass shoes. Ladies and gents alike, you can go to this brand for quality, classic style, and affordable shoes that won’t take your bank account in to the negative. We just got in our Glenbrook, the oxford, black and white, the straight up classic colors BUT with a heel! It fits any retro girl’s heart and has that timeless appeal. Gotta go old skool this summer and you have to do it with Bass.
According to NY Mag’s The Cut, saddle shoes are one of the big throwback trends this season. You can see the roundup they pulled together here, but we’re mostly interested in the traditional, and have always taken a fancy toward Bass’ version with the Enfield Gobi. This shoe was a big hit back in the summer of ’09, so big, that we decided to stock it AGAIN. And for $65, it’s easy to understand why this 50s shoe trend is back on the market.
And so we were prompted to the blog, The Sponge, via The Cut, and got to find some vintage photos from the LIFE archives, that show some pretty purty saddle shoe wearin’ gals. Check out the vintage snap shots below.
Apparently girls at women’s colleges across the country were wearin’ their saddle shoes as every day wear. A trench and the saddle go quite nice together.
A comb in the bobby sock, how veryy sneaky and yet smart for a quick fix with hair style. Got to remain fresh in those days!
Sooo, you might think of something else other than a shoe when you see the words, Saddleback and Bookmark, but don’t let your trained brain fool ya. These are indeed a kind of shoe, and because we love givin’ your brain a flip and somethin’ new to grasp on, we’ve got these shoes sittin’ so nice on our shelf.
The first. The Saddleback. It’s by Bass and takes you back to your Wonder Years years when you went romping around in these shoes maybe accompanied by a uniform for school or maybe just with any plain old outfit you remember always pairing with your Saddlebacks. I believe Bass is calling them the Enfield. And we’ve got it in 2 colors.

First, in Black.

Second, in “Gobi” which you can see is a sand color, perhaps why they named it after a desert. . .
Both shoes are only $65, now that price there is $4 cheaper than what Bass is selling it on its website. So don’t go wasting precious time on the www trying to save yourself the hassle of going into the store, ’cause you’ll be costing yourself four whole dollars. That’s enough to get a one scoop cone at Tasty-D-Lite or a taco from the taco stand.
Aaaaaand, we also got this pretty lil’ thang to start off Fall right:

And since it’s obviously not the Saddleback, then it has got to be the Bookmark. Duh. A beautiful bootie-type shoe by none other than Rachel Comey herself. If you know anything about this designer, her shoes are handled and created with care. Hand-made in S. America, all the leathers are soft as butter and classic all unto their own. The tassels on this shoe I believe are what gave this shoe its name. Her prices are steep, not going to lie, but you get what you pay for: a craftmaship of the shoe worth your hard earned money. (The Bookmark is $330, which is probably the equivalent to buying 60 actual bookmarks, but who would want 60 bookmarks? Pshhaah, not I.)
