Weak In the Knees for a Woven Boatshoe

We’ve shown you our favorite boat shoe styles this week, but that’s not to say that we don’t have more than what we’ve put up here on our blog. No siree. For men, we have traditional Authentic Original Sahara & Brown styles, and a handful of other colors for you women. We have nothing short of a plethora of Sperry to choose from, but the last new style that we’re simply giddy about is the “Woven” for women ($125). The basket weave pattern gives the boat shoe some nice texture, yet still comes in a nice natural leather color that it can go with anything. Today is the perfect day for a boat shoe, and you go weave or no weave with all the choices we have on hand, but we recommend the “weave.”

Ubiquitous Boat Shoe: Sperry Does It Right

Every year and every spring/summer of that year, we’ve been sure to carry one of three important shoes for the season: The boat shoe. Every girl and guy has got to have a pair for warm days ahead whether you headin’ out on a real boat or not, it doesn’t matter. Ubiquity travels farther than the original intention, which is why Sperry these days has designed many o’ variations and colors for their original boat shoe. And one alternative style we’ve taken a liking to, and our customers, is the Montauk ($90). A more slendar, feminine version of the boat shoe, the Montauk comes in brand-spankin’ platinum or goes-with-everything black.  Still the same comfort as a boat shoe, just a tad less boxy with a more pointed toe. One thing that doesn’t change between boat shoe and Montauk: leather. Both have soft leathers and wear in to form against your own foot’s shape. Tip when purchasing: Because these shoes inevitably become the go-to shoe for the season, they wear in well, meaning, they stretch and can get loose. Best to go down a half-size, so when you’ve broken them in, they’re not flopping around and are a perfect fit.

Keepin’ It Real With Keds

Keds will forever be a shoe that keeps it real, mainly for its nostalgic quality it forever holds in our young girls’ and boys’ hearts. But just because Keds has seen some years and has some history doesn’t mean it’s not going for new heights. We’ve been digging their “Not Too Shabby” line for its soft cloth material and even softer subdued colors it offers. This year we’re carrying the slip-on Not Too Shabby in mauve and graphite, and true to Keds’ roots, they keep it real with prices. You’ll never have to bust out the cash for a pair of these classics, and these soft slip-ons are only $50. What are you keepin’ it real with this season? Tell us!

TOMS Takes It Back to the 80s with Stone wash

We’re always eager to see what TOMS has cookin’ and designing up their sleeve for each new season, so when we saw this new version of the slip-on for Spring, we said: “Gotta get it!” So we ordered a few shipments of the Stone wash Twill, a.k.a. TOMS takes it back to the 80s. But who doesn’t want to go back to the 80s? The faded TOMS slip-on are always the must-haves at the SM each Spring, and so far, the black, grey, and navy (not pictured) versions of these stone wash slip-ons have been popular nonetheless. For $50, TOMS are a sure-bet buy, and plus, if you don’t know by now: you buy a pair of TOMS, and TOMS gives one back to a child in need. It’s a cool company, a cool idea, a cool shoe, and a cool bandwagon to actually be on.

Winter TOMS!

We know you all love your summer/spring TOMS, but TOMS has realized that their brand can carry through all seasons, and we’re carrying some of the styles to get you through the winter. First up the Grommet ($56) in black with cool silver snap details throughout, it’s an edgier version of the typical slip-on TOMS. We love the idea of putting this with some tights to let the metal detail shine.

If you’re looking for something even cozier and comfier for the season, then women, we have the Wool Fleck ($82) for you in a soft grey. It’s lined on the inside with warm faux sherling, the upper and outer part is made from polyester and recycled plastic bottles (did you know?)! Get on it to make TOMS your new year-round brand! And stay tuned for some men’s styles to appear tomorrow. . .
